Hekate’s Sanctuary is dedicated to Hekate, Goddess of Liminal Spaces. Our goal is to educate as well as to offer access to rituals and spiritual opportunities with our online community.

Hekate is the goddess of magic and witchcraft. She also rules the night and the moon and is regarded a Goddess of the Dead and the Underworld. She was born to the Titanes, Perses and Asteria from whom she received her power over heaven, earth, and sea and as such became the “way” between all three.

Mythology tells us that Hekate assisted Demeter in her search for Persephone, and guided her through the night with her two flaming torches.

Two of Her animal familiars are the black she-dog and the polecat.  Hekate has been depicted as a woman holding twin torches. She has also been seen dressed in a knee-length skirt and hunting boots, much like Artemis and Bendis She has also been shown in statues as a triple form as a goddess of crossroads. Her name means “worker from afar.”

Translation by Thomas Taylor [1] :

I call Einodian Hecate, lovely dame,
Of earthly, wat’ry, and celestial frame,
Sepulchral, in a saffron veil array’d,
Leas’d with dark ghosts that wander thro’ the shade;
Persian, unconquerable huntress hail!
The world’s key-bearer never doom’d to fail;
On the rough rock to wander thee delights,
Leader and nurse be present to our rites
Propitious grant our just desires success,
Accept our homage, and the incense bless.

Hekate is our patroness Goddess in our studies within our Women’s Mystery Tradition.  Women may prefer that their studies be focused on a general format in Feminist Dianic Wicca or they may enrich their studies with a specialty in Hekatean Studies. Should you decide to join us, you may discuss these options with your mentor. There is a $60 per month fee for this program.
